I'm a health coach & hula hoop fitness instructor with a passion for empowering women who care for the elderly & autistic.

Prior to changing my lifestyle and career, I worked long and strenuous hours as a corporate accountant. I found myself hating my job and watching my health deteriorate. As a mother of two beautiful children, I began to think about the example I was showing them as I worked hard, barely having time to spend with them. As my children grew, I discovered that my youngest had developed a learning disability. The years that followed were filled with challenges that I never thought I would face. I stayed in and out of doctors and specialist offices as I worked to find the best medical options for my son, David.

I was often met with opposition when I requested natural solutions and was forced to use pharmaceuticals that made my son lethargic and prone to allergic breakouts. After much trial and error and pleading with health professionals, I decided to take my son’s health in my own hands. I spent years reading and experimenting with fresh herbs, vitamins and healthy nutrition plans. When I began to see results, I decided to go back to school to become a certified health coach at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.

Becoming a health coach was the best decision I could ever make. It allowed me the flexibility to be more active in my family’s life and offer them life sustaining tools that would help them be their best selves.

Since then, I started my company, Denice’s Total Wellness, with a wider focus to include anyone looking to turn their lives around for the better. I show my clients how to practice a holistic approach to health and wellness, by examining how all areas of your life are connected. I created a hula hoop class to help women over 50 stay fit during the pandemic. I've also worked as a distributor for the best quality health supplements and detox products.

After working in the health and wellness industry for almost a decade, I partnered with my herbalist daughter, Amanda, to take my practice further. We created a business together called Roots + Fire Water Co. As an owner of rural land, I wanted to create a business that would cater to our family legacy as farmers and healers. Together, we took our family's herbal recipes and formulated our trademarked Fire Water Teas. With my family daughter's herbal expertise and my wisdom in nutrition and my elders' teachings, we created two versions of our teas. The first version of the Fire Water teas were mixed with tropical ingredients and the other version with solely medicinal properties. 

Working with my daughter, educating people about plants and self care has been one of the biggest joys of my life. In addition, working with my clients to create a happy, healthy life in a way that is flexible and fun is so rewarding.

As we work with our local and digital community, our clients and supporters will develop a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work best and implement lasting changes that will improve energy, balance and health.
