The Calathea Dottie is a known show stopper! When added to any room, this gorgeous plant garners instant attention. A darker version of Calathea family, the Calathea Roseopicta adds an attractive contrast to the greener varieties. The deep green burgundy leaves have a sharp pink border and a central pink stroke. The undersides are a striking deep reddish purple, leaving no doubt about it's tropical credentials. This plant filters airborne toxins and is part of our clean air plant collection. If properly cared for, the Calathea Roseopicta is moderately fast growing, ultimately reaching heights of around 40cm to 60cm.
Sunlight
Thrives in plenty of diffused sunlight, but direct sunlight will cause the leaves to fade and lose their markings. They can tolerate some degree of shade, but the more indirect light, the finer the foliage.
Water
Loves to be watered a little, but often. Calathea must be kept in damp soil at all times, but definitely do not allow the plant to sit in water or in very wet soil. This plant can benefit from extra humidity. Calatheas can be sensitive to hard tap water. Try using filtered water or leaving water out overnight before using.
Sick Plant Signs
Yellowing leaves, black base: Overwatered
Wilting, curling leaves, dry potting mix: Underwatered
Leaf spots: Fungal inflection or mineral build up from tap water, use distilled water and water directly into surrounding potting soil
